A garden design consists of a detailed planting plan and 3D sketches to help visualise the finished garden.
A design is helpful to anticipate problems eg overlooking, prevailing winds, pests, and allow accurate costings for a landscape contractor if required.
If a full design is not required an initial consultation (usually half a day) will provide advice for hard and soft landscaping and planting tips suitable for your plot. I can show a portfolio of my work.

The Process

1. I have an initial briefing document which I can post or e-mail. This provides basic information about the garden size and outlines the scope of the work.
2. An initial consultation: A meeting on site with the client to further discuss needs and wants and budget.
3. An accurate site survey noting existing trees and plants, services and levels if necessary. A site analysis and a soil test.
4. Sketch design: consisting of sketch plan to scale and 3D views showing concepts and ideas.
5. A second meeting to discuss alterations and amendments to the sketch design.
6. The master plan showing the planting layout drawn to scale, together with 3D sketches, details of hard landscaping, material specifications and elevations.
7. Aftercare and maintenance advice can be provided if required.

Cost

Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is an informal discussion about your requirements and the potential of the plot. The fee for this consultation is £75 and is refunded if a full design is commissioned.

For a complete garden design, overall size 60 sq m, approximately £560. The cost does not necessarily relate to the size.

Maintenance

These days, people with demanding careers have little time to tend and nurture a growing garden. I tend to specialise in gardens that need little or no maintenance, but provide a space for relaxation and leisure.
